Premise and purpose. Due to the growing demand for feed, there is a need to develop devices that ensure the production of highly homogeneous feed. At the same time, a poorly understood process is the mixing of various components of animal origin, including various bone waste with each other and with other raw materials. Based on this, a design and technological scheme of a device equipped with a screw-knife and finger units aimed at mixing feed components to high homogeneity is proposed.
Materials and methods. The object of the study was to determine the homogeneity of mixing feed. Eggshells and yolk waste from chicken eggs were loaded into a device equipped with a screw-knife and finger units. Peas served as a control component. Mixed samples were taken at 2, 4, 6 and 8 minutes after the start of the mixing process.
Results. As a result of experimental studies of feed samples prepared using the developed device equipped with a screw-knife and finger units, the following results were obtained for the homogeneity of mixing of eggshells with yolk waste and the control component, peas: 89.23% (after 2 min.); 89.445% (after 4 min.); 89.5% (after 6 min.); 90.8% (after 8 min.).
Conclusion. The developed design and technological scheme of the device equipped with a screw-knife and finger units ensured stable performance of the mixing process of various feed components and, in experiments, proved its effectiveness to a high level of homogeneity of feed mixing.
