Abstract

Abstract

Background and purpose. In Southeast Asian countries, the giant freshwater prawn has long been an important aquaculture object, initially grown using traditional but ineffective methods. Over the past fifty years, many scientific studies have been conducted aimed at improving giant prawn cultivation technologies. Thanks to the improvement of modern intensive methods and innovative solutions, shrimp production has improved many times over. In this context, the development of domestic feeding methods for Rosenberg shrimp is particularly relevant, thereby reducing dependence on imported planting material and contributing to the expansion of production by domestic producers.

Materials and methods. The research work was carried out in the scientific center of aquaculture at the NCJSC "Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University named after S.Seifullin" (KATRU named after S.Seifullin) on feeding the freshwater Rosenberg shrimp (Macrobrachium rosenbergii). A recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) was used to keep the Rosenberg shrimp, specialized instruments were used to conduct water hydrochemistry studies that allowed monitoring the level of soluble oxygen, water hardness and the content of nitrites and nitrates in it. Generally accepted methods for aquaculture were used to calculate the dynamics of growth and weight indicators.

Results. During the feeding experiment, Rosenberg shrimp were divided into three groups: one fed with Aller Aqua compound feed, another with Vland Aqua compound feed, and the third group was fed with a paste-like feed. As a result of the experiment, the effectiveness of feeding with Aller Aqua compound feed was confirmed, with an absolute weight gain of 2.46 g and a relative gain of 69% in juvenile shrimp during the cultivation period. A similar result was observed in the group with the combined feeding method, which showed an absolute gain of 2.15 g and a relative gain of 60%, respectively. The lowest performance was observed in Group 2, with an absolute gain of 1.56 g and a relative gain of 43%.

Conclusion. As a result of the conducted research, optimal feeding methods for freshwater Rosenberg shrimp were developed for its effective maintenance in the conditions of a closed water system (RAS). Feeding with compound feed (Aller Aqua) and a combined method showed the best results, which ensured better digestibility of nutrients compared to compound feed (VladAqua).
