Using conventional digital cameras with appropriate image analysis software, it is possible to evaluate not only green biomass but also other vegetation characteristics. A number of simple color gamut operations can provide many parameters that can potentially be used as indicators of vegetation characteristics. The article presents the results of a study on determining a set of vegetation indices using RGB image analysis as a criterion for selecting highly productive spring wheat samples. As a result of the analysis of the RGB image, samples with the best color parameters were selected, where high yields were established compared to the rest of the studied samples. Like the NDVI index, color parameters provide a more reliable forecast of the productivity of variety samples in small-plot breeding experiments.
