GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT OF CALVES OBTAINED FROM IMPORTED HOLSTEIN COWS

Abstract

This article presents the results of research on the growth and development of calves of «Kamyshenka» LLP obtained from Holstein cows of local selection and imported animals of Ukrainian selection. The live weight of the experimental newborn calves in group I was at the level of 35.3 kg, in group II - 36.7 kg, at 6 months of age, respectively, 156.6 kg and 163.5 kg, and at 12 months of age, the weight of calves in the experimental group was 3.1% higher than that of calves in the control group. At the same time, body measurements and body indices showed that, in newborns, at the age of 6, 12 months, were higher in calves of group II. The hematological blood parameters of the calves studied in two groups corresponded to the norm.
