Abstract

Abstract
Background and Aim. In Kazakhstan, soybean is considered a promising crop for diversifying the structure of crop acreage. Interest in soybean cultivation has increased in recent years. The range of regionalized varieties in Kazakhstan remains relatively limited, and their productivity is unstable under adverse weather conditions. The breeding program at the «Experimental Oilseed Farm» LLC is aimed at developing soybean varieties with high ecological flexibility capable of ensuring stable yields in
a variable climate. The objective of the study was to develop a new early-ripening soybean variety combining high yield potential, resistance to environmental stress factors, and improved seed quality, while being adapted to the natural and climatic conditions of the region.
Materials and Methods. The new variety, EURASIA, was obtained through individual selection from the L. 443/L. 214 hybrid population. The study employed generally accepted methods of phenological observation, disease resistance assessment, and statistical data processing. Seeds quality parameters (protein, fat) were analyzed using the Infrascan-3150 infrared analyzer.
Results. According to the results of competitive variety testing (2021–2023), the vegetation period of the new EURASIA variety was 99 days, the average yield was 20.3 c/ha, the protein content was 38.6%, and the fat content was 20.1%. At state variety testing sites (2024–2025), the new variety confirmed its high adaptability and technological effectiveness, which formed a high yield in the East Kazakhstan region of 30.9 c/ha, in the Turkestan region – 32.4 c/ha, and in the Zhetysu region – 23.9 c/ha. In
production fields at Experimental Oilseed Farm LLC, yields reached 37.3 c/ha (with a maximum of 42.0 c/ha in 2025), with a protein content of 40.0% and a 1,000-seed weight of 197.2 g. The new soybean variety EURASIA is characterized by a determinate growth type, high productivity, and resistance to lodging, bean cracking, and major diseases. The variety is highly suitable for mechanical harvesting.
Conclusion. Since 2026, the variety has been included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Republic of Kazakhstan under Patent No. 1253 and is recommended for cultivation in the East Kazakhstan, Turkestan, and Zhetysu regions
