Abstract

The article presents a retrospective analysis of urinary tract diseases in 84 cats with pain and uremic syndromes in the conditions of the Byzantium veterinary clinic in the city of Nur-Sultan (Republic of Kazakhstan). The study is aimed at assessing the prevalence of pathology depending on the age, breed and gender of cats based on clinical, biochemical and special research methods. The ratio of urinary tract diseases is represented by such diseases as: feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC; 28.6%), urinary tract infection (UTI; 30.9%), urolithiasis (16.7%), urethral plugs (UP; 21 .4%) and neoplasia (2.4%). Assessment of clinical symptoms revealed pollakiuria (47.6%), stranguria (42.8%), hematuria (57.1%); The leading symptom in infections and cystitis was hematuria (83.3%), in urolithiasis stranguria was 85.7%. With urolithiasis, the mean age of diseased cats was 4.1 years, which is significantly higher (P<0.05) than the age of cats diagnosed with cystitis. In cats of the British breed, UTI and FCI were registered in the same number of animals and amounted to a total of 57.2%; UP -17.9%, urolithiasis - 21.4%. In outbred cats, infections were recorded in 46.9%, cystitis in 31.3%, urethral plugs in 6.3% and urolithiasis in 15.6%. The percentage of diseases in males was higher than in females by 73.8%. In sick cats with urolithiasis, uroliths were found in 92.6%; the content of struvite was slightly higher than that of oxalates (53.7% and 46.3%, respectively).
