Abstract

The article deals with choice issues of an optimum material for the manufacture of groundwater pumps impellers. Durability of ground materials impeller pumps, working under the conditions of waterjet wear, is determined by their chemical composition, heat treatment regime and hence the microstructure and mechanical properties. Tests have been conducted in the laboratory on the bench for research of operating modes of the pumps, and the pumps are tested with impellers made of different materials (cast iron, steel, rubber and polyurethane). According to the research the following conclusion is drawn : the use of polyurethane will improve pump efficiency, this material is easier to be repaired after the wear and improves performance.
