Abstract

This article presents research results of cement mortar samples blended with different contents of red mud from 5% to 25%. The results show that it is possible to increase the electrical conductivity of the samples under study, due to realitivly high content of metal oxides in the red mud. In this case, there is a direct dependence of red mud content and increasing the electrical conductivity of samples. Thus, it is possible to obtain piezoresistive cements with the addition of red mud. Using red mud as a functional filler in cement matrix for producing the self-sensing concrete not also decreasing the cost of concrete and also has a positive effect for
environmental, because it can help to reduce the amount of waste materials.
